Dr. Peter Jacobson
A Columbia, SC native, Dr. Jacobson received his medical degree from Vanderbilt University and he completed his general surgery internship at the University of Louisville. He continued with general surgery training and orthopaedic research at the University of North Carolina in Chapel Hill, where he finished his orthopaedic training in 1987. Dr. Jacobson concentrates on sports medicine and joint replacement. Dr. Jacobson is active in local sports, serving as the team physician for the Norfolk Admirals, and formerly as team physician for Virginia Wesleyan University and most Virginia Beach high schools. Dr. Jacobson specializes in and has special interest in surgery of the knee, and hip (both anterior and posterior surgical approaches), and less-invasive hip replacement commonly known as hip resurfacing. He has credentials in the Birmingham Resurfacing process, Total Hip Replacement and Anterior Hip Replacement.
