Patrick W. O’Connell, MD, FAAOS
Dr. O’Connell is a native of Burlington, VT.  He earned his undergraduate degree form the University of Notre Dame and his medical degree from the University of Vermont.  He completed his residency in orthopaedic surgery at Northwestern University, and completed a sports medicine fellowship at the Hughston Orthopaedic Clinic.  He then came to Virginia Beach to start practice in 1989.  Dr. O’Connell is board certified in orthopaedic surgery.  His interest is in sports medicine, specializing in the care of knee and shoulder problems.  Dr. O’Connell is active in local sports, serving as the team physician for the Norfolk Admirals, Norfolk Nighthawks, the Virginia Beach Mariners,  Virginia Wesleyan College and numerous area high schools.
R. Brick Campbell, MD, FAAOS
Born in Jacksonville, Illinois Dr. Campbell earned his undergraduate degree at  Hamilton College in Clinton, New York.  Dr. Campbell earned his medical degree from the University of Vermont and completed his residency at Brown University Orthopaedic Residency Program.  Dr. Campbell served in the United States Army Medical Corps including being stationed in northern Saudi Arabia for Operation Desert Shield/Desert Storm.  Dr. Campbell did a sports medicine fellowship at the Kerlan-Jobe Orthopaedic Clinic where he served as assistant team physician for the Los Angeles Dodgers, Los Angeles Rams, Los Angeles Lakers, Los Angeles Kings, Anaheim Mighty Ducks and USC football and volleyball.  Dr. Campbell specializes in sports medicine, arthroscopy for the shoulder, knee, elbow, ankle and hip.  He serves as the team physician for the Norfolk Admirals, Norfolk Nighthawks, Virginia Beach Mariners and Tallwood High School.  Dr. Campbell has special interest in meniscus replacement, complex ligament injuries of the knee, hip arthroscopy, cartilage replacement of the knee and throwing injuries to the elbow and shoulder.

Peter C. Jacobson, MD, FAAOS
A Columbia, SC native, Dr. Jacobson received his medical degree from Vanderbilt University and completed his general surgery internship at the University of Louisville.  He continued with general surgery training and orthopaedic research the following year at the University of North Carolina in Chapel Hill, where he finished his orthopaedic training in 1987.  Dr. Jacobson, while practicing general orthopaedics, concentrates on sports medicine and trauma.  Dr. Jacobson is active in local sports, serving as the team physician for the Norfolk Admirals, Norfolk Nighthawks, the Virginia Beach Mariners, Virginia Wesleyan College and Salem High school.  Dr. Jacobson specializes in and has special interest in surgery of the knee, ankle, shoulder and elbow.

Joel D. Stewart, MD, FAAOS
Board certified in orthopaedic surgery 
Dr. Stewart received his undergraduate degree in Chemistry at the United States Naval Academy, and his medical degree at Harvard Medical School. He trained in orthopaedics at the Naval Medical Center in Portsmouth, Virginia, where he is currently stationed. Dr. Stewart completed a fellowship in foot and ankle surgery at the Florida Orthopaedic Institute in Tampa, Florida. His current practice involves sports injuries, as well as major trauma patients from the ongoing war on terrorism.  January 2006, Dr.  Stewart joined with Virginia Institute for Sports Medicine, allowing him to use his expertise in the treatment and care of patients in our area. Dr. Stewart was born in Fargo, North Dakota on 10-29-67. He is married to wife, Robin and together they manage to take care of  a barn full of horses, in addition to dogs, cats, birds and many other animals in need. He has special interests in overuse injuries to the foot and ankle, ligament reconstructions, arthroscopy of the knee, ankle, subtalar joint, as well as post traumatic reconstructions including fusions, tendon transfers and osteotomies. Dr. Stewart enjoys participating in Biathalons and Tiathalons.
